From the capital of Hobart and its harbor, markets and elegant neighborhoods he heads out across the state and traces Tasmania's convict origins in the prisons of Port Arthur, hikes Cradle Mountain National Park, rides out the ups and downs of a fast paced eco-cruise along Tasman National Park's spectacular coastline and meets the devil -- the Tasmanian Devil, that is. Along the way he samples the best of the local food and wine and gets to know Tasmania's colorful and multi-cultural inhabitants.

Port Aransas, Texas - Fun on the Texas' Coa (Episode #511H)

Joseph breaks away from heat for a cooling and relaxing stay among the gentle gulf breezes of the South Texas Coast. In every season the pleasures are easy in this laid back Southern town where often the best thing to do is nothing. The active visitor has plenty to keep them busy and Joseph tries his hand at swimming, fishing, kayaking, crawfish shucking and dancing a two step or three. In keeping with his joy of lifelong learning, he hops aboard a University of Texas research vessel for a cruise of the bay and a look it's denizens of the deep.

In addition to his town adventures, his journey takes him from one natural area to another in hot pursuit of Australia's wildlife where he has close encounters with kangaroos, koalas and emus. Along the way he is introduced to the original inhabitants and stewards of this great big land down under -- Australia's aboriginal people.

While in the sun-rich, car-free, 7,000-foot atmosphere of Bettmeralp Joseph enjoys a typical Swiss experience that is filled with glacier treks, colorful festivals, local cuisine, the beauty of the rural countryside and warm Alpine hospitality.

Madhya Pradesh, India - India's Rural Heart (Episode #313H)

Joseph continues his passage through the heart of India with an expedition to Bandhavgarh National Park's tiger reserve. He then visits the princely town of Maheshwar where he celebrates sunrise and witnesses morning rituals along the holy Narmada River. In the city of Indore he joins the crowds for the Diwali Festival - a celebration of good over evil and the glory of light.

Of the 14 aboriginal groups that exist on Taiwan the Tao people live on Orchid Island while the Ami people were the original inhabitants of Green Island. Joseph travels to Green Island to enjoy its natural pleasures such as one of the world's only ocean hot baths and rides on a moped through the island's dramatic volcanic landscape. On Orchid Island he has cultural encounters with the Tao people sampling their special foods, staying in traditional dwellings and participating in the rituals and customs associated with the hunt, capture and serving of flying fish.

Taiwan - The Culture of Tea (Episode #507H)

The mystery and majesty of tea is explored when Joseph spotlights the culture of this royal beverage on Taiwan.     • Scheduled Maintenance 8/21-8/25

      Next week, Sutro Tower will be switching most stations to their auxiliary antennas. KQED TV will be at half power on the lower auxiliary antenna, this will affect some of our Over The Air viewers. Maintenance is scheduled on August 21-25 from 9am through 4pm daily.     • 2/22/17: Fremont Peak tower transmissions, including KQET DT25

      (DT25.1 through 25.3) Recent storms have taken out dozens of trees on Fremont Peak, which in turn have taken down power lines leading to the transmission tower located on the peak.
