The Cat-in-the-Hat-A-Thon
Celebrate Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a marathon of the celebrated PBS KIDS program The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! Friday, March 2, at 8am on KQED 9 and at 10am on KQED Plus (Channel 54/cable 10).
Joseph Campbell & The Power of Myth with Bill Moyers
In this two-part series, Bill Moyers interviews Joseph Campbell — the foremost interpreter of the world’s great mythologies who famously collaborated with George Lucas on the Star Wars trilogy. Shot in the library of Lucas' Skywalker Ranch a quarter of a century ago, this series fired the imagination and intellect of millions of people and became a phenomenon. Part 1: Sunday, March 4, at 2pm and Part 2: Sunday, March 11, at 2pm. Both on KQED Plus (Channel 54/Cable 10).
Great Performances: Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall
In celebration of its blockbuster 25th anniversary year, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and producer Cameron Mackintosh present Phantom of the Opera in a fully-staged, lavish production set in the sumptuous Victorian splendor of London’s Royal Albert Hall. Featuring a cast and orchestra of more than 200, with special guest appearances by the original cast members, this production is a celebration of Broadway’s longest running show ever.
