It's Halloween weekend, but it's also the time when Mexicans celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Losing someone you love is a very personal experience. But the collective ritual of making an altar to honor a friend or relative who's died can bring people together. Farida Jhabvala Romero visited with a group in Oakland as they prepared "nichos," tiny wooden boxes that hold pictures and symbols of loved ones.
