Amanda Weissman will be writing blogs for KQED about her inauguration 2017 experience and tweeting from her mom's account.

Hi! My name is Amanda Weissman, and I am 13 years old. I attend middle school in the Bay Area. My favorite classes are English and history. I also enjoy reading, theater and creative writing, and I aspire to be a professional author when I’m older.

I’ve taken an interest in politics because I care about the environment, equality, immigration and freedom of expression.

However, these issues have grown to become more important to me since the recent election. I was deeply disappointed when Hillary Clinton lost.

I want to go to the Women’s March on Washington to express my opinions, feelings and ideas. I think it is important for women to march to show their emotions regarding the current events in the world. I hope by marching that I will feel stronger than ever before.

I especially want to continue to meet new, powerful women and to one day inspire the generation following mine. I hope this experience will open my mind to new ideas and opinions.
