Kitty Conundrum: Caillou finds a tiny kitten while desperately searching for his beloved Rexy. He wants to keep the kitten, even though Mommy and Daddy say 'no' - they have Gilbert! When Samantha comes to the door to claim her lost kitten, "Whiskers", Caillou fetches the kitty...and finds Rexy! He remembers it isn't fun losing something you care about, and happily returns the kitty to its rightful owner. Educational Objective: Returning a lost pet to a rightful owner; perspective taking. Caillou's Favourite Sweater: Grandma has knit Caillou a wonderful sweater. He loves it and wears it every day - even after it gets dirty! Finally, on a hot day, Caillou decides to take it off. When he accidentally leaves the sweater in the playground and goes home for the day, he worries something terrible has happened to it. Grandma will be so upset with him! When Mommy and Caillou return the next day to find the sweater is fine, Caillou vows to never wear it again. He decides to keep it in his drawer, nice and safe - until Grandma explains it's okay to wear the sweater - it's meant to be worn - just not everyday. Educational Objective: All things in moderation; taking care of one's possessions. Caillou's Big Dig: Caillou is feeling frustrated while trying to build a model truck. He decides he wants to quit! Daddy suggests Caillou take a break and join him on an errand. Together, they stop by Eric's dig site, where Caillou learns a little bit about archaeology - and he learns that some things take time and effort, but the effort is worth it in the end. Caillou returns home to finish his model, and is proud that he did. Educational Objective: Good things are worth working for.

Caillou Conducts: The preschool has a visitor - Liz, a musician. She shows the kids all sorts of instruments and Caillou is excited when he's chosen to be the orchestra's 'conductor'. In fact, he's so excited, he can't stop conducting those around him - at preschool and even at home! When Caillou refuses to share his conductor's baton he soon learns how easy it is to hurt other's feelings - and how it feels better to give others a turn. Educational Objective: The importance of giving others a turn; sharing. Captain Caillou: Captain Caillou and Fantastic Leo are enjoying 'flying' around the house, pretending to be superheroes. Only, they can't seem to share the task of saving the world! Each wants to be the big hero in charge of their important 'rescue'. Butterfly Surprise: Caillou is disappointed to learn his class trip to the fire station is cancelled...and they're going to a butterfly conservatory instead. Caillou thinks butterflies are boring...until he sees them for himself, and learns about butterfly metamorphosis. Educational Objective: Keeping an open mind to new experiences. Soccer Trouble: Grandma plans to coach Caillou's soccer team while Grandpa recovers from an injury. Caillou is excited about this - until Grandma proves to have some unusual training methods. She insists her strange drills will make the kids better players. Things that go bump in the night, and others that light up the sky, are on everyone's mind today. A family corn roast dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's under the star-studded sky prompts Grandpa to bring out his telescope and introduce Caillou to the constellations, planets, and moon. Grandpa discovers a new planetarium is opening and there's a prize for the best space costume. Caillou is thrilled when the winner turns out to be...a surprise! But fun turns to fear at bedtime when Caillou decides that a monster is lurking in his room. All's well when Mom and Dad unmask Caillou's monster as a tree branch on the window! Then, during a winter storm, the lights go out and Caillou is very afraid. Dad builds a fire in the fireplace and the family pretends they're camping. They even toast marshmallows!

Everyone's lending a helping hand today. Caillou plans a surprise birthday party for Grandpa with Grandma's help. He and Grandma get everything ready, and Grandpa is very surprised and very happy. Caillou really likes to play with Leo's pet hamster and would love to have one of his own. He doesn't realize how much hard work having a hamster can be until he offers to look after Leo's pet while Leo and his parents are out of town. He soon realizes it's not all fun and games - especially with Gilbert around! Mom is upset when the mailman only brings bills, bills and more bills. Caillou and Dad decide to make a nice letter for her and they give it to the mailman to deliver. Mom is thrilled to get such a nice letter from Caillou. On another day, Caillou is really looking forward to a special day with Dad, but Dad gets a bad cold and has to stay home. Caillou is pretty disappointed at first, but then with some help from Mom, Dr. Caillou looks after patient Dad.

Today, Caillou discovers something inside him that makes ordinary things fun: imagination! Unable to fly his kite on a windless day, Caillou stares at the clouds and finds they're really wagons, balloons and dinosaurs, if you look at them just right. When rain grounds his kite another day, Caillou and Dad turn the living room into a pirate ship. Just like his Daddy, Caillou loves anything to do with cars, so he's very happy when Dad asks him to help wash the family car. And while he sits in the car, he imagines he's driving a car to the beach. It's also fun playing with his friend George, who no one can see but Caillou. Later, Caillou, Rosie and Julie the baby-sitter travel to all sorts of pretend far away places. Among them are the desert with its camel and oasis, the big mountain they climb and finally the river and waterfalls in the steamy tropical forest.

Caillou's learning to do new things, and discovering it's okay to have help while he learns. To prove he's ready to help Dad paint the porch, Caillou paints Rosie's dollhouse first - and Gilbert, with paint-dipped paws, does some painting too! Caillou moves from renovation to recreation when Dad and Sarah teach him to play baseball; Dad teaches him to swim; and Clementine goads him into going down the big kids' slide. Mom shows Caillou how to tie his shoes but he get frustrated and stops trying. With courage and practice, he's soon able to do these things on his own.

Today Caillou learns that being a part of a family is something very special. Dad lends Caillou his old camera and helps him take pictures of every member of their family - including Gilbert. Looking at the photo album, the family remembers when Gilbert was a kitten and first came to live with them. When Mommy and Rosie go out for the day, Daddy and Caillou have plans of their own. They are building a surprise for Mommy that requires a lot of father-and-son work. When Caillou and his family go to the zoo, Caillou is thrilled to see that animals have families too. Also, Caillou and his family go away for a weekend of camping in the woods.

Things get a little scary today. Caillou and his new neighbours, Jason and Jeffery, are playing hide and go seek in the backyard, until dusk brings out the shadows. A flashlight and Mommy help chase the shadows away. That evening, Caillou can't fall asleep when he hears scary "scratchy monster" noises and thinks there's a monster in his room. Daddy shows him that a tree branch brushing against the window is making the noises and the only monster in Caillou's room is Gilbert. Later, a bad dream about a scary monster leads to a restless night for Caillou. Mommy and Daddy help him learn to fall asleep safely in his own bed. And, finally, when Caillou sleeps over at Leo's house for the first time, he has fun until it's time to go to sleep. A phone call to Mommy reminds Caillou that Teddy was looking forward to spending the night. Together they rest easily.

Mom is making one of her special snowman cakes, which means Caillou and Rosie have to go to the shop with her to get the ingredients. Then Caillou gets lost in the shop...but it all works out fine in the end. On another day, when Caillou's kite-flying plans are defeated by rain, he creates a pirate ship in his living room.

Caillou's Grandma is surprised when Caillou tells her he doesn't have any friends. She reminds him about Clementine, Leo, his cat Gilbert, and tells him that even his sister Rosie is his friend. Then, Caillou makes a brand-new friend. His name is Andre and he's big - and also a bit clumsy. Caillou is upset with Andre when he breaks Caillou's favorite chair, but it's soon forgotten when they go outside and play soccer. Later, Caillou and Leo are having a great time playing when Leo trips and falls, hurting his ankle. Caillou is very worried about Leo and thinks it may be his fault Leo got hurt. But when he makes Leo a get-well card and visits him at home, Leo says it wasn't Caillou's fault he didn't tie his shoelaces. Sarah helps Caillou paint a birdhouse Dad built, but she can't finish it because she is off on an all-summer trip to China. Caillou misses her very much. On the day of her return, Caillou is ecstatic and anxious to show Sarah that not only is the birdhouse finished and hanging in a tree, it has a resident.

Caillou does a lot in a day, and today he wants to dress himself, only his Mommy is doing the laundry and he doesn't have any clean clothes, so Daddy and Caillou decide to play a dressing game with Daddy's old clothes. While preparing a picnic lunch with Mom, Caillou tests a bit too much of everything. He has no room left to eat the special sandwich Clementine made for him. His appetite comes back while watching squirrels storing food in their houses for the winter. Later that day, it's bath time, only Caillou doesn't like to take baths. Daddy turns bath time into playtime with a motorboat and a big bottle of bubble bath. And, when the car breaks down Caillou, Rosie and Dad have to pull over. Caillou comforts Rosie who becomes afraid when smoke comes out of the engine. Caillou is overjoyed when the tow truck arrives. Everyone rides to the garage and Caillou is in charge of holding Rosie's hand and explaining all the scary sounds.

Today is full of celebrations! It's Caillou's birthday! He is having a party with all of his friends, and he gets a very special gift that he wanted. Caillou learns about the Chinese New Year. He even tries some Chinese delicacies, but most exciting of all, he gets to see the famous dragon dance! Also, Caillou and Grandma throw Grandpa a surprise belated birthday party! Grandpa is surprised, and very happy! After seeing Bravo the magician doing some tricks at Leo's birthday party; Caillou decides that he is Caillou the Great. With magic words, Caillou makes his magic penny and Gilbert, disappear and reappear.

Finding fun ways to play is the theme today. Caillou, Clementine, and Leo are disappointed because they can't go to the zoo. They cheer up after Caillou's Mommy and Daddy help them pretend to be animals themselves. Also today, Caillou, Rosie, and Julie (their babysitter) go on a scavenger hunt and decide to make a surprise craft for Mommy and Daddy with the cool stuff they found. Caillou's big friend Andre has come to visit. Andre is a soccer player and Caillou wants to play too... Only Caillou isn't very good at kicking the ball. He wants to give up, but Andre and Dad encourage him and eventually he makes the biggest kick of the day. Then, when Caillou's kite-flying plans are defeated by rain, he creates a pirate ship in his living room.

Caillou Goes Caroling - Caillou goes out caroling for the very first time with Mommy, Daddy, Rosie, Grandpa and Grandma. He finds out caroling is lots of fun - you get to stay up late and surprise your friends with carols, and you even get treats! They finish up the night with a big finale at the seniors' home and Caillou imagines he's really 'dashing through the snow' in a horse and sleigh. A Playschool Party - It's a very special day at playschool as they celebrate the many ways of celebrating the holiday season. The children bring various seasonal objects for show and tell - Caillou brings his Christmas stocking to show. After a potluck feast the children go outside and build a snow fort together. Caillou's Christmas Eve - It's finally Christmas Eve and Caillou just can't wait for nighttime. He's planning to stay up all night to see Santa, but when the time comes he finds this to be a lot harder than he thought it would be. Just as he's dozing off he faintly hears Santa calling out "Merry Christmas!" And in the morning his stocking is full of treats!

Caillou's Cricket: Caillou inadvertently brings a cricket in the house and decides it'll be fun to keep it as a pet. When the cricket gets loose and Caillou goes on a wild-cricket hunt, he's suddenly able to see things from the cricket's perspective...and decides to put the cricket back outside where it belongs. Educational Objective: Wild creatures belong in their natural habitat; empathy. Dog Dilemma: When Sarah gets a new dog, Caillou is actually a little jealous. All Sarah wants to do is play with her new pup! Caillou feels a little annoyed with the dog...until he dog-sits for an afternoon and realizes Sarah's dog is actually pretty great. He and Sarah talk about their feelings, and they decide it'd be fun for all of them to play together. Educational Objective: Jealousy; the importance of communication. Caillou Roller Skates: Caillou wants to learn how to roller skate... until he realizes roller skating is very difficult. With a little help and guidance from his pre-teen friend, Daniel, Caillou decides to keep practicing, so his skills will improve - just like Daniel's did! Educational Objective: Perseverance; the importance of practicing skills in order to improve. Say Lettuce!: Caillou wants to take a picture of a bunny rabbit in Grandma's garden, but it proves a harder task then he originally thought. With a little perseverance (and a little lettuce from the garden) he finally sees the task through to the end - and gets a photo he's proud of! Educational Objective: Perseverance. ' Caillou Tries to Whistle: Clementine can whistle, and Caillou can't! Caillou tries his best to learn and practices every where he goes... but he just can't seem to get the hang of it and this embarrasses him. Mommy and Daddy reassure him this skill will come with time, but Caillou feels much better when he realizes there are things he can do that Clementine can't do - like wiggling his ears! Educational Objective: It's okay to admit you can't do something.

What's Ringette?: Caillou and Leo want to play hockey and are disappointed when they arrive at the rink to find Sarah and Clementine playing "ringette". Caillou has never heard of ringette before, and he doesn't want to play the game...until he learns that Mommy used to play! She teaches him a few moves, and when Caillou and Leo realize it's a lot like hockey, they're eager to join the girls' next game. Educational Objective: Keeping an open mind about trying something new. Rainy Day at the Beach: Caillou and his family are supposed to be enjoying a nice day at the beach, but it's cloudy and rainy. Mommy and Daddy think of going home, until Caillou and Rosie show them they can have fun no matter where they are - even a wet and soggy beach! Educational Objective: Making the best out of a bad situation. Caillou Climbs: Mommy takes Caillou and Clementine to an indoor rock climbing wall, but Caillou doesn't want to give it a try. Wintertime brings lots of new experiences. Sarah teaches Caillou to build a snowman, Dad helps him stay upright on his ice skates (and picks him up when he falls down), and Mom shows Caillou the fine points of downhill skiing, including how not to be afraid of the ski lift. When Caillou and Dad get to the vendor too late to buy a good Christmas tree, they decorate one in the yard instead. All the beautiful colored lights chase away the winter gloom. Also, Caillou learns about the Chinese New Year. He even tries some Chinese delicacies, but most exciting of all, he gets to see the famous dragon dance!

Big Kid Caillou: Caillou's older friend Andre is coming over to play, but Caillou is a little worried that his toys are too 'little kid-ish". He quickly hides his toys, filling his room with big-boy stuff (like car magazines and grown-up games)...only to find out Andre isn't quite ready for big-boy stuff either. Educational Objective: The importance of not hiding who you really are. Caillou's Glasses: When Mommy gets a new pair of specs, Caillou wants glasses too. He pretends he has bad vision, tries to make a pair out of pipe cleaner, and even borrows an old pair of Mommy's glasses (minus the lenses). When Caillou tapes 'pretend lenses' to the frames - and can't see where he's going around the house - he finally realizes the importance of having good vision. Educational Objective: The importance of good vision - with or without glasses. Caillou's Dance Party: Miss Martin is throwing a dance party. Caillou is excited, only...he doesn't know how to dance! Caillou elicits advice from various family members, and feels more confused than ever when they each show him a different way to dance. When Caillou sees Miss Martin dancing any ol' (silly) way she wants, Caillou realizes it's more important to have fun than to worry about dance steps and styles. Caillou's Shadow: Caillou likes it when Miss Martin calls him a "shadow scientist"...so much so, he's afraid to admit he doesn't know everything about shadows! When Caillou's curiosity gets the better of him, he learns it's much easier to find the answers you're looking for when you ask questions. Educational Objective: Not being afraid to ask questions; deductive reasoning. High Flyers: Daniel comes for a visit and thinks he knows how to put together a model plane...without the instructions. When the plane doesn't fly properly, Caillou finally gets the courage to point out a poorly connected piece. They fix the plane and Daniel acknowledges that Caillou knows a lot for a little kid! Educational Objective: Learning to speak up and express opinions. Caillou's Leaf Pile: Caillou has fun jumping in the fall leaves with Daddy. When Daddy cleans up all the leaves, Caillou still wants to jump. He tries a few options, but doesn't get the results he was hoping for. Finally, Caillou realizes he make his own jumping pile... out of pillows! Educational Objective: Creativity; being resourceful.

Sharing the Rocketship: While shopping for a birthday present for Clementine, Caillou and Leo decide to go 'halvsies' on a toy shuttle. They try to share it, but squabbles inevitably arise. When Caillou worries that Leo isn't talking to him anymore he finally realizes his friendship is more important than any toy. Luckily for Caillou, Leo thinks so too! In the end, the boys decide to 'gift' the toy shuttle to Clementine - who is all too happy to receive it. Educational Objective: The importance of sharing; friendship. Coach Grandpa: Grandpa is coaching Caillou's soccer team, and Caillou really wants to impress his Grandpa. So when the team starts losing, and Caillou begins to bumble on the field, Caillou decides he doesn't want to play anymore. Grandpa explains that win or lose, it's all about having fun. He's proud of Caillou, no matter what. With renewed enthusiasm, Caillou rejoins the team to have fun playing the game. Educational Objective: Having fun at sports is more important than winning. The Safety Helper: Caillou is very proud when Miss Martin makes him "Safety Helper" for the day. He takes his job very seriously, and even prevents Jeffrey from going down the slide head-first. So when the job is passed on to Leo the next day, Caillou feels crushed... until he overhears some students repeating his safety lessons, and realizes they took his message to heart. Educational Objective: Learning that you don't need a badge in order to help others.

Rushing the Raspberry: Caillou is helping Mommy take care of a raspberry bush. When he promises to bring his preschool pals some raspberries, he realizes he needs to see his promise through. But it's hard waiting for berries to ripen, and it seems to take forever. When they do finally ripen, Caillou realizes good (and delicious!) things are worth waiting for. Educational Objective: Realizing good things are worth waiting for. Wait to Skate: Daddy is building an ice rink in the backyard, only Caillou can't wait to skate. Caillou's Hiccups: A spaghetti dinner (and a lot of giggling) result in Caillou getting the hiccups. Daddy thinks he knows how to cure them, and together, they embark on a series of hiccup-curing trials. But none of them see to work! Mommy insists the hiccups will go away on their own - as long as Caillou doesn't make a big deal of them... and she's right! Educational Objective: Don't make a mountain out of a molehill!
