KQED, the public media company that serves Northern California, is proud to present the Bay Area television debut of the award–winning documentary CALIFORNIA STATE OF MIND: The Legacy of Pat Brown on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 9pm. This unique portrait of former California Governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown and was created by Brown’s granddaughter and award-winning director Sascha Rice. With full access to her family’s photos, personal film footage and private documents, Rice presents an intimate, personal look into political power and a family dynasty frequently hailed as “the West Coast Kennedys.” This account of Brown’s life takes on startling new significance now that his son, Jerry Brown is Governor of California — again. The pioneering and progressive spirit of the West comes into focus as the filmmaker wrestles with the inherited optimism of her grandfather's legacy and its impact on contemporary challenges that face California today.
