SAN FRANCISCO, CA — KQED is proud to present “Explore Your Interests,” the newest two-episode series from Roadtrip Nation. After 20-plus years of road-tripping, this latest installment is a true return to form—an expansive exploration of the kinds of career possibilities that can only come true when you wholeheartedly pursue what you love to do. The series premieres on public television stations nationwide in June 2026, with streaming available on the PBS App and PBS.org.
The three young adults featured on this latest road trip journey come from all different stages of life, and have interests as varied as poetry and public policy. But they all have one thing in common: They need guidance on how to find work that will deeply align with their passions.
The Roadtrippers
Arnaud is a New York City-based recent graduate of NYU, where he created his own major—“The Improvised Life”—to explore how improvisation shows up in everything from jazz and painting, to social systems and education. Inspired by his Creole and Native American roots, he hopes the road trip will show him how to incorporate artistry into anything he chooses to do.
Catherine is a sophomore at Howard University, and right now, she has about a million ideas about what she could do with her life: urban planning, diplomacy, sustainable farming, sociology, and beyond. Still, there’s no one interest that’s clearly rising to the top for her—but she’s optimistic that this road trip journey will help her find clarity.
Joana grew up as part of an immigrant family in Alabama, where she has faced barriers to higher education and stable work, but she hasn’t let that stop her drive. She’s passionate about storytelling and the arts—specifically writing, film, and music—and as a single mother, she’s hungry to learn how others have followed those passions while providing for their families.
Charting New Paths
Their road trip takes them on a winding journey through the West—starting in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming; making their way up to Seattle, Washington; and exploring the Pacific Coast before finishing the trip in Southern California. Along the way, they sit down with folks who’ve followed passions, and end up in some truly fulfilling—and fun—spaces.
