Budget Battle Continues in Sacramento
On Wednesday, Democrats in Sacramento were in a celebratory mood after passing an on-time budget for just the second time in 25 years. But the euphoria didn't last long as Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the bill, marking the first time a California governor has rejected a budget in over a century. Host Scott Shafer talks to The California Report's Sacramento Bureau Chief John Myers about what happens next.

Recalculating GPS

Remembering a Father Lost to War

Pop Music Review: Frank Fairfield's "Out on the Open West"
Whether it's fashion or music, we've seen that what's old is new and what's new is old. But Frank Fairfield, a young Los Angeles musician, has accomplished the neat trick of making old feel new. The California Report's pop music critic Steve Hochman reviews Fairfield's album, "Out On the Open West."

Revisiting Sunnyvale's Cherry Orchards
We're coming to the end of cherry season in California. It's brief, even in the best years and this year, picking was hampered by late rains, which also spoiled some fruit. Farmers are used to good years and bad, but then there's the C.J. Olson family, who have been growing cherries in what's now Silicon Valley for more than a hundred years. The California Report's Nina Thorsen tagged along on a recent tour of their orchard.
