Governor Brown Reveals Trigger Cut Plans
The automatic cuts in state spending that start kicking in on New Year’s Day won't be as deep as many observers had feared. Nevertheless, there will be more pain for programs such as in-home support care and developmental disability services, as well as higher education.

Some Trigger Cuts Face Legal Challenges
There are legal moves to block some of the trigger cuts from happening. The reduction to in-home care for the disabled and the elderly has already been put on hold by a federal judge, and the state's effort to trim payments to doctors who care for Medi-Cal recipients is on its way to the Supreme Court.
