Senate Prepared to Suspend Yee After Latest FBI Sting
State Senator Leland Yee has pulled out of the race for secretary of state, and today state lawmakers vote on whether to suspend him, with pay, if he doesn't choose to leave the legislature voluntarily. Yee's arrest over federal weapons trafficking and corruption charges makes him the third Democratic state senator to get in trouble with the law this year and the second to get busted by the FBI.
Closing Arguments in Teacher Tenure Case
Testimony closed yesterday in a hotly contested trial over teacher tenure. The case in L.A. County Superior Court is Vergara v. State of California, filed on behalf of students in six public school districts across California by Students Matter, a non profit backed by a Silicon Valley businessman. Registry Helps Track Missing Children with Special Needs
The city of Hemet, east of L.A., has established a special registry for missing children with special needs. The system was launched at the urging of Councilwoman Shellie Milne, who has a son with Down Syndrome.
