Lawsuit Challenges Ban on Voting for Prisoners Under Community Supervision
An Alameda County Superior Court judge heard arguments this week in a case that could grant voting rights to tens of thousands of former prisoners across the state. California law prohibits those in prison and on parole from voting, but the law doesn't address a new group of offenders created by realignment.
Department of Veterans Affairs Forced to Pay $200 Million in Wrongful Death Suits
The Center for Investigative Reporting has found, in the years since 9/11, the Department of Veterans Affairs made wrongful death payments to nearly 1,000 grieving families, including 59 in California. Reporter Aaron Glantz joins us to talk about a couple of those cases.
