Interview: Gov. Brown Emphasizes Continuity Over Change
Jerry Brown has barely spoken about his quest for an unprecedented fourth term as governor of California. That may be because his message is all about finishing what he's started. Still, the governor will be on the ballot in a season where some things seem headed in the right direction in California, while many others do not. KQED's senior politics editor John Myers caught up with Gov. Brown for a walk down memory lane in the place his father lived when he was governor.

Obamacare in Jail: How San Francisco Policy Helps Inmates
More than 1 million Californians signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Many of them signed up online, but also in health clinics, Big Box stores and other places targeted by Covered California. Under a brand new law in San Francisco, they also signed up in jail. The sheriff says making sure people have health coverage when they're released will help prevent them from committing another crime, and coming right back. But there's more to public safety than just issuing an insurance card.

A closely watched trial in Los Angeles is challenging the system of tenure, and how teachers get and keep their jobs in California public schools. Nine student plaintiffs from around the state testified that tenure hurts students. Teachers say it's an important job protection.
