McCarthy Takes the Reins in the House
It's been a very good week for a former deli owner from Bakersfield, Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy, who was elected this week to be the new Majority Leader in the House of Representatives. He's the first Californian and at age 49, the youngest person ever to hold that job. California Drought Dries Up Honey Supply
California's drought is already driving up prices for some popular foods -- including one you might not have considered: honey. It's only the latest chapter in a story of hard times for honeybees. Tena Rubio teamed up with KQED's Danny Bringer to bring us this story.

Andrew Gilbert has this review of his new album "La Rumba Soyo."
Setting the Table for World Cup Supporters

Since the games began last week, international soccer fans in California have been celebrating their heritage by cooking up their favorite regional dishes. We gave the tough assignment of sampling a few of them to KQED's Stephanie Martin Taylor.
