Mental health workers at Kaiser Permanente are walking off the job Monday, the start of a seven-day statewide strike. The National Union of Healthcare Workers says Kaiser needs to hire more therapists and psychologists, and that by not doing so, patients are put at risk. Kaiser was fined $4 million last year by the state, in part because of long wait times for mental health. But Kaiser disagrees, saying it increased the number of therapists by 25 percent in the last three years.
