The first female-only mosque in the nation opened in Los Angeles on Friday. In the U.S., mosques are generally co-ed, but men and women pray in separate areas. In recent years, some Muslim women have called attention to the fact that the prayer spaces are separate but not always equal. For example, at some mosques, men enter through the front door while women are relegated to the side entrance.
