Airbnb scored a big victory in its hometown Tuesday night, when voters in San Francisco rejected a ballot measure that would have placed stricter limits on short-term rentals. Proposition F would have limited how long hosts can rent out their homes to 75 nights per year. Opponents spent $8 million to fight the measure, most of which was put up by Airbnb. San Francisco voters also turned down a proposition that would have halted development of market-rate housing in the Mission District.
