The shuttered Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino in the hills near Yosemite may come back to life next year. A little more than a year ago, a violent dispute between rival factions of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians forced the casino to close its doors. On Monday, the tribe reached a settlement with the National Indian Gaming Commission. To reopen, the tribe must pay almost $20 million in fines for not submitting audits in a timely manner.
