Senate Bill 50 was one of California’s most controversial and closely watched housing bills. The bill would’ve opened the door for more housing construction around transit and in certain single-family home neighborhoods. Many saw it as one of the most significant statewide responses to the housing crisis. So why did SB 50 fail?
