Congressman Duncan Hunter's Legal Team Files Motion to Dismiss Charges
Congressman Duncan Hunter's accused the San Diego U.S. Attorney's Office of "being out to get him" for political reasons. Monday morning Hunter's legal team filed a motion to have his case dismissed based claiming a conflict of interest, given that two assistant U.S. attorneys investigating his case attended a presidential campaign event for Hillary Clinton.
Bill to Require College Education for Juvenile Detention Centers
By law, kids locked up in California must have access to a high school education, but that is all. Senate Bill 716 would require county probation departments to make online college classes available to youth in detention who’ve earned high school diplomas or certificates.

House Democrats Try to Stop Offshore Drilling
The Trump administration's hopes of new offshore oil drilling sites off the California coast and elsewhere may have dried up. In a series of obscure votes late last week House Democrats voted to take away all the money that would be in next year's Interior Department budget that could be used for things like lawyers or public meetings that are needed before you can lease these offshore areas to oil companies.

California Nursing Homes Some of the Worst in the Nation
Thirty-four nursing homes in California made the list of the worst facilities in the nation for having serious health, safety or sanitary problems, according to a recent federal report.
