Amid Heat and Wind, Utility Cuts Power Due to Fire Risk
PG&E shut off power to more than 20,000 customers over the weekend because of high fire risk in the region. The shutoffs in the Sierra Foothills and the north Bay Area were part of a wildfire prevention plan recently approved by state regulators.

State Budgets for Health Coverage for Low-Income Undocumented Immigrants
Low-income undocumented immigrants could soon get health insurance, courtesy of California taxpayers. A budget deal in Sacramento approved Sunday would make adults ages 19-25 eligible for MediCal if their incomes are low enough. State officials estimate the program could cover 90,000 people and cost about $100 million. The state Legislature is expected to pass the $213 billion budget later this week.

Bay Area D-Day Veteran Returns to French Village
In Normandy, France this weekend, a 96-year-old veteran from Martinez was in Omaha Beach for the first time since he landed there on D-Day. Jake Larson was there to mark the 75th anniversary of the invasion and reminisce about that fateful day.
