Just days after President Donald Trump visited the border at Calexico, Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen resigned her post.

Nielsen presided over the administration's "zero-tolerance" policy that led thousands of migrant children to be forcibly separated from their parents.

Whether it's detained families or separated children, I hope chain-link fencing will be featured prominently in history's account of Nielsen's tenure in government.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration says it will take two years to identify thousands of children taken from their parents.
