As Mexican President Takes Office, Gavin Newsom Wants to Foster California-Mexico Ties

Mexico's new President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, or AMLO, was sworn in over the weekend at a ceremony in Mexico City. Festivities aside, Mexico and California are key economic trading partners. California's Gov.-elect Gavin Newsom spoke to the press before the inauguration, saying he wants to make sure California has an independent relationship with Mexico, regardless of what happens in Washington.
