Scientists Open Film Vault of American Nuclear Tests
Today, America's nuclear weapons test models are computerized. The baseline data comes from original films made of above-ground nuclear tests done between 1945 and 1963. Lawrence Livermore Laboratory is trying to restore and share what remains of the test films shot by the U.S. during this time. The data is used to update computer models used to calculate the destructive capability of America's aging nuclear weapons stockpile.
