A bill from Louisiana Sen. David Vitter would strip some federal funding from sanctuary cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles that shield undocumented immigrants from federal authorities. On Tuesday, that bill goes up for a vote in the U.S. Senate. Vitter spoke on the Senate floor next to a large photo of Kate Steinle, the San Francisco woman whose killing this summer reignited the debate over sanctuary cities.
