San Francisco firefighters controlled a fire that involved two apartment buildings on 17th Street near Guerrero on Thursday morning.

The blaze, in a tightly packed block of residential buildings on the western edge of the Mission District, was reported just before 8:30 a.m. and went to three alarms before firefighters got the upper hand. The fire was declared controlled at 9:42 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which the Fire Department said displaced residents of 22 units in buildings at 3517 and 3525 17th Street.

There's no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
