UC President Mark Yudof
"Chop from the top" was the angry battle cry of unions representing workers at the University of California this week. As UC regents considered emergency furloughs to help close an $800 million budget gap, protesters demanded more cuts from the compensation packages of top administrators. During a lunch break at the regents meeting in San Francisco this week, we sat down with UC President Mark Yudof to discuss where spending cuts leave the university.

In San Francisco, a group promoting community canning is teaching people more than just how to make jam.

Jazz Review: The Clayton Brothers
Family can be a blessing or a curse in the music business. Just ask the Jackson Family, or Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey who couldn't share a bandstand without some kind of scuffle breaking out. But that's not always the case. Andrew Gilbert reviews a new CD by brothers John and Jeff Clayton that celebrates some of the most successful sibling collaborations in jazz. Their new CD is "Brother to Brother."
