Arcata and Medical Marijuana
For an industry that thrives mostly out of the limelight in California, the marijuana business got an awful lot of attention this week. First, the Obama administration announced it would no longer prosecute medical marijuana users and growers, as long as they're abiding by state laws. Then federal authorities announced charges against 18 people accused of running a huge marijuana growing operation in the Central Valley. But if there's a ground zero for California's $14 billion marijuana industry, it could be the Humboldt County town of Arcata. How is the proliferation of pot affecting life there?

The Seldom Seen Acting Company
The recession and all the home foreclosures have left lots of people confronting the possibility of being without a place to live. Of course homelessness is nothing new for thousands of people living on the streets. A few who've made it back from homeless are now telling their stories onstage.

Turning Points: Fred Brackel
Most homeless people never get an audience to hear their story. But they often have a story to tell about how they came to be living on the streets. On a recent trip to San Diego Scott Shafer saw a middle-aged guy sitting on a sidewalk on 4th Avenue downtown. He wondered what his turning Point was.

San Francisco's Tango Scene
Tango has been popular in Argentina for more than a century and now it's becoming increasingly popular in California. You can listen or dance to tango every night of the week in 10 or more venues in the San Francisco Bay Area alone. Aficionados say the Bay Area is becoming a second Buenos Aires.

Crowning a Rodeo Queen
California is home is to over 70 different rodeos. From the Barstow Stampede to the Mother Lode Round-up in Sonora, cowboys and cowgirls compete in bull-riding and calf-roping tournaments in front of bleachers full of corn-dog eating families. And no rodeo is complete with out its queen, a young woman selected for her beauty and horsemanship to represent the sport of rodeo.
