Russia: Military Aid to Syria Will Continue

U.S. intelligence reports that Russia is expanding its military capabilities in Syria and possibly establishing an operating base in the port city of Latakia. The U.S. has long wanted Russia to scale back its military support of the Assad regime, but Russia has been Syria’s ally since the civil war began in 2011. We’ll look at Russia’s motivation for ramping up its military presence in the region. How will it impact efforts to battle the self-proclaimed Islamic State?
