More than a thousand protesters swarmed the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office headquarters this week, in response to the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Andy Lopez by a sheriff’s deputy. Lopez was carrying a toy gun that resembled an AK-47 assault rifle. Protestors are calling for justice and greater transparency from local police, as the FBI launched an investigation into the case. We talk about the shooting and the community’s response.

Guests:

Rafael Vasquez, part-time professor at Santa Rosa Junior College; and club advisor for the school's Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanista de Aztlan, a student group which helped organize the protest

Eugene O'Donnell, professor of law and police studies at John Jay College in New York; and former NYPD officer and prosecutor

Paul Gullixson, editorial director of The Press Democrat
