When reporter Elizabeth Flock arrived in Mumbai in her early 20s, she was so inspired by the showy, imaginative displays of romance she witnessed on the streets that she began a nearly ten-year investigation into modern love and marriage in the city. “The Heart is a Shifting Sea” is the product of her research into the marriages and lives of three middle-class Indian couples. Flock joins us to discuss what she learned about how technology and pop culture are transforming romance and relationships in India’s largest city.
