In Werner Herzog’s landmark 1982 film “Fitzcarraldo,” an Irishman tries to build an opera house in the Amazon jungle. In his 2005 documentary “Grizzly Man,” the protagonist attempts to live with wild grizzly bears. The filmmaker deals with similar themes in his new documentary “Into the Inferno,” an exploration of volcanoes across the world and the people living in their shadows. Herzog joins us in the studio to talk about the film, his career and why he is fascinated by man’s relationship to nature.
