A former senior Pentagon official says his superiors illegally punished a National Security Agency whistle-blower who was attempting to expose information about surveillance and mismanagement, and destroyed documents that would have bolstered his case. Supporters of NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden say the new revelations explain why he had no choice but to leak his information to the media.
