Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lilly Scourtis Ayers earned a BA in classical civilization from UCLA, where she also studied film history and theory.
After working in music video production for artists such as Metallica and Tom Petty, she received her MFA in film directing at Columbia University School of the Arts in New York City. In 2003, she directed her first music video for the Los Angeles band Rezurex called Devil Woman from Outer Space, a low-budget, retro, science-fiction piece.
In August of 2005, Lilly met Scott "The Lawyer" Ayers at a punk show. They were married six months later and are now parents to two amazing little boys. Last Fast Ride: The Life, Love and Death of a Punk Goddess is Lilly's first feature film.
