A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Matthew Callahan spent 15 years working in his family's piano business as a piano technician and tuner, but he was never far from a stage, whether as a singer, stand-up comedian, or owner of an entertainment and promotions company. In 2008, Oscar-winning film director John Korty made a documentary film about Callahan Piano Service called Miracle in a Box, which aired as part of Truly CA in 2011. Watching Korty film in his family's shop inspired Callahan to embark on his own quest to preserve the memories of Camp Beaverbrook.
