How do I get a new Member Card?
Use the Member Services contact form or phone number listed at the bottom of this page to let us know that you need a new Member Card.

How do I suspend or cancel my contribution?
We’re sorry you have to cancel your financial support with us, but we do understand. Contact us using the Member Services contact form or phone number at the bottom of this page and we'll take care of that. Be sure to include your contact information and/or membership ID number with your request.

Is my KQED membership tax deductible?
Your contribution, less the value of any thank-you gifts you receive, is tax deductible to the full extent provided by law. A listing of fair market values was included in your donation confirmation letter.

Are there separate memberships for KQED TV and KQED FM?
Each member of KQED has only one membership. However, the contributions you make to FM or TV are kept separate on your membership, as well as in the overall budgeting of the organization.

What do I do if I wish both the radio and TV stations to receive part of my yearly gift?
Contributions made during an FM fundraiser are counted as radio revenue. Support made during TV fundraisers is counted as television revenue. Contributions made outside of these campaigns are recognized as general operating expense supporting both TV and Radio. You can request to have your gift applied exclusively for TV or FM using the Member Services contact form or phone number at the bottom of this page.

Can I get discounts using my KQED MemberCard?

How can I find out when my Membership expires?
If you receive the printed On Q member magazine, the expiration date of the membership is printed on the label. You may also become a Sustaining Member. Sustaining Members make ongoing monthly contributions that continue until you tell us to suspend, which means your membership never expires and is always active. Can I sponsor a membership for someone else?
Yes, you can gift a Membership for another individual. You pay for the membership (at any level) and the other person receives the benefits. You may make this request using the Member Services contact form or phone number listed at the bottom of this page.

Is my membership transferable to the PBS or NPR station in another city?
No. Each station is independent and maintains its own membership base.

Does KQED exchange names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses from its membership list?

How can I donate without becoming a Member?
If you would like to make a donation without becoming a member, please state that you do not want to receive any membership materials.

How can I make an anonymous donation?
You may make anonymous donations via check or charge by calling Member Services at (415) 553-2150, by mail or by using our online donation page. Simply state that you would like your donation to be anonymous. If you need a tax letter at the end of the year, we will need your name and mailing address.

If I donate a car, do I get a membership?
If you aren't already a member, your car donation will qualify you for a one-year KQED membership. Call (866) 573-3123 to donate a car. For more information please see Car Donations on the KQED website.

Levels of Membership

What is the Leadership Circle?
Leadership Circle is KQED's mid-level giving program. Members are entitled to all basic member benefits, plus invitations to special events, the Fall Preview Screening and private KQED facilities tours. What is the Signal Society, Editor's Circle, Director's Circle, Producer's Circle, and President's Circle?
KQED's major donor societies may receive enhanced benefits. As a member of one of our major donor societies, you get an insider look at the programming and services of KQED, including tours of our studios and chances to meet public media personalities. Signal Society membership starts at $1,500 per year, $125.00 per month. What is the Jonathan C. Rice Legacy Society?
The Jonathan C. Rice Legacy Society honors the philanthropic leadership and vision of individuals who have provided for the future of public broadcasting by making a Legacy Gift. Legacy Gifts include: bequests through a will or living trust; gifts that provide lifetime income, such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts and retirement plans or life insurance policies that name KQED as a beneficiary. Member benefits include special receptions, VIP tours and access to the KQED video library. To notify us of your interest in Legacy Society membership, please complete our request for information form or contact us.

What is a Sustaining Membership?
Sustaining members provide KQED with a dependable base of revenue used to sustain the programs, reporting, and exceptional journalism that you depend on. As a monthly sustainer your contribution is ongoing, and is always active until you say otherwise giving you complete control. Sustainers receive exclusive perks and benefits not available to other members. Sustainers do not receive renewal notices in the mail which means that even more resources are saved and go right back into the programming. Most importantly, sustainers have the satisfaction of knowing they are always actively doing their part to keep KQED thriving.

Publications/Mailings

How can I change my mailing address?
You can update your name, address, phone number and e-mail address as well as leave comments or questions online through the Update Member Info form. You may also contact member services at (415) 553-2150.

How can I make sure my donation gets credited to my existing Membership properly?
It is best to put your Member ID or Pledge ID on your check. If you are a member and have moved, please make sure that you include your new and old address so that we do not create a duplicate account.

I already renewed. Why am I still receiving renewal notices?
Sometimes your renewal payment gets posted to your membership after we have pulled the list of donors to send the next month's renewal notices. There may also be a duplicate account that may have been created in error. If you are concerned, contact us using the Member Services contact form or phone number listed at the bottom of this page.

I received a "Thank You" letter for donating above and beyond my annual Membership. What does this mean?
When you receive this notification, KQED is acknowledging your gift and informing you that we have not used that gift as your annual renewal. If this was not your intent, notify Member Services using the contact form or phone number listed at the bottom of this page. We will update your account to reflect your recent gift as a renewal of your annual membership.
