Wondering why there's a bunch of pink all over your social media channels today? It's all thanks to #PinkOut Day, Planned Parenthood's attempt to rally support in the face of ever-increasing attacks from politicians and the anti-choice contingent.

"Pink Out Day is our time to say: Listen to over a million Americans who are sick and tired of the relentless attacks on reproductive health care. Listen to the one in five American women who has received care at a Planned Parenthood health center...we are everywhere and we will not let fraud and deception shut down the health centers so many women rely on for care. It will be women and men nationwide standing together to say: We’re not backing down, not today, not ever."

Daniel Handler, better known by his pen name Lemony Snicket, and his illustrator/author wife Lisa Brown decided to show their support, not with a pinked-out profile photo, but with a donation. A big one.

Brown explained further to Buzzfeed:

"My husband and I have supported Planned Parenthood for years, for obvious reasons: It’s a great organization that has provided top-quality health care for countless women and families in our lives. This year, Planned Parenthood has gone through a series of unfortunate events, and it felt right to make our support more public and more dramatic."
