After her lost necklace is found, Sindhu Nair reflects on why gratitude is important.
As the new year was approaching, I found myself reflecting on the moments of joy and challenges that tested my resolve this past year. A few months earlier, I lost a cherished necklace, that was my son’s Mother’s Day gift for me with his baby picture in it.
I was at Apple Park for a meeting, and realized that night that, the necklace was missing. I went back, retraced my path, and searched countless times. I finally emailed the security team, but didn’t hear back from anyone. Eventually, I came to terms with its absence, though there was a lingering ache as it was very special to me and my son.
While preparing for a new year bash, I noticed an urgent email in my inbox. When I opened it, I saw a picture of a necklace like mine, though it was tarnished. I responded quickly with hope. I set up an appointment to confirm. When I arrived, they took the necklace out of the bag. Surprisingly, it looked new and shiny.
The moment was pure magic. I held it close, the baby picture of my son smiling back at me. Tears welled up, not of sorrow, but of gratitude, of relief, of a deep sense of connection restored.
