The SFPD has come out with its own "It Gets Better" video.
It Gets Better is the brainchild of columnist Dan Savage and his partner, who a couple of years ago, in the midst of a series of tragedies involving harassed LGBT teenagers, created a YouTube video recounting their experiences as teen victims of gay bullying, and offering hope to those currently suffering.
The video took off and became the genesis of a widespread anti-harassment campaign in which people posted their own messages of encouragement. Politicians such as Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and even President Obama submitted videos. Last year, the San Francisco Giants became the first pro sports team to create one.
The SFPD says it's "the first and only Police Department in the country to produce a video for the campaign."
