    If past is prologue, Nancy Pelosi just might be back as Speaker of the House of Representatives before you learn to spell B-O-E-H-N-E-R.

    There have been three elections since World War II in which House Republicans toppled their Democratic counterparts on Capitol Hill — although this is the first time the House has gone Republican without the Senate following suit.

    In two of those elections, 1946 and 1952, Democrats re-took the House two years later. In the third, 1994, that Democratic exile lasted 12 years, until 2006.
