The district attorneys for San Francisco and Los Angeles are suing ride-service company Uber, saying it made misleading statements to customers. San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon says Uber charged users a fee for background checks they did on drivers, but did not verify drivers' identity with fingerprints. Gascon says Uber also charged airport passengers an extra $4 fee, but didn't pass the money along to the airports. Uber competitor Lyft has reached a settlement with the district attorneys to stop a similar practice and pay civil penalties of up to $500,000.
