(Bay City News) A wanted parolee considered armed and dangerous was shot and wounded by police this morning on a busy San Francisco thoroughfare during the morning commute.
Investigators had been searching for the 36-year-old man, who was wanted on a $75,000 warrant and is believed to have fired an assault weapon last week, police said.
This morning, they received information that he was in the 1000 block of Gough Street.
Two plainclothes officers spotted him near the corner of Gough and Ellis streets a few minutes before 8 a.m., Police Chief Greg Suhr said.
The officers identified themselves and tried to apprehend the man, but he shot at them and tried to escape in a gray four-door Honda Accord, police said.
