For many Japanese-Americans, Obon festivals are the highlight of summer. The Buddhist tradition is kind of like The Day of the Dead. People remember their ancestors but also celebrate life with food, dance and music. The San Jose Chidori Band has been performing at Obon festivals around the state for more than six decades.
