It’s expensive to live in the Bay Area. Rents increased 24 percent between 2000 to 2016, according to a report by PolicyLink and PERE. KQED reporters are curious about how people are tackling the housing crisis.

We’ve heard of people getting creative about where and who they’re living with, especially when it comes to the use of spare rooms.

We want to know -- how are YOU using a spare room to beat the housing crisis ?

Are you a teacher renting from the families you teach? Did you start a program that pairs seniors with younger renters who can help around the house? Or, have you decided to go all in and share a house with two or more families?

Tell us your “spare room story” by taking our short survey. Your story will help our reporting. Feel free to reach out if you have questions: Erika Aguilar, eaguilar@kqed.org
