San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin issued an apology to Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White after initially calling the response to a four-alarm North Beach fire “an abject failure.”

Peskin was sharply critical of the department’s firefighting tactics during the fire at 659 Union St.

Though Peskin apologized, his written statement said he will “reserve the right to raise questions as more information comes out about SFFD leadership response to Saturday night’s fire.”
