Gov. Jerry Brown firmly established himself as a leader of California's resistance, ripping into the Trump administration's "reign of terror" this week. This came after the Justice Department earlier filed a lawsuit against the state and two top state officials, accusing them of interfering with federal immigration efforts.

Brown's fiery words are a far cry from his first term when the young governor focused on demonstrating personal frugality, in part by being chauffeured in a 1974 Plymouth Satellite instead of a limousine.

On Thursday, the president also said he's looking into Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
