Raul Bocanegra announced his resignation "effective immediately," after multiple women accused the Los Angeles assemblyman of sexual harassment.
After initially saying he would serve out the remainder of his term, Bocanegra went out swinging on Monday, saying, "the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ has been temporarily lost in a hurricane of political opportunism."
The State Assembly is poised to begin hearings to address issues that led to numerous sexual harassment scandals unfolding in and around the Capitol.
