Oakland's Harborside Health Center says it has reached a deal that will end a long campaign by federal prosecutors to shut it down.
Harborside, which has called itself the nation's largest medical cannabis dispensary, sent out a press release early Tuesday announcing a "historic agreement" with the U.S. Department of Justice to suspend efforts to seize its properties in Oakland and San Jose under federal drug trafficking laws.
Under the reported deal, federal prosecutors will agree to dismiss their case against Harborside. In return, the dispensary has agreed not to pursue further legal action against the government.
Federal prosecutors didn't immediately confirm the agreement, though Harborside and Oakland City Councilwoman Rebecca Kaplan, a longtime dispensary ally, scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference at Oakland City Hall.
