Are you looking for the status of your 2016 ballot? Check out our updated post.

Show us a voter who confidently sends her vote-by-mail ballot into the hands of the U.S. Postal Service and local vote-counting bureaucracy, and we'll show you an individual with a supreme faith that everything is going to work out just fine.

It's really just human nature to wonder, "Did it get there and has it been counted?" And since this has been a watershed election in terms of the sheer number of mail-in ballots, we're going to steer you again to the California secretary of state's page connecting you to online and phone resources, by county, for checking whether your vote-by-mail or provisional ballots have been tallied yet.

I live in San Francisco and checked the status of my own ballot today, by phone and the Web. Lo and behold, I actually got a real live person at the Department of Elections who took my name and address and informed me that my vote had been counted on Nov. 1. Webside, I entered my house number, Zip Code and date of birth, then got a little history of each step in my ballot's journey to cementing my constitutional right to weigh in on whether a soccer field should have artificial turf, plus other matters.

Here are the links and phone numbers at which you can check your ballot's status throughout the Bay Area:
