Christine Todd Whitman served as EPA chief under George W. Bush, defending the administration’s positions on issues like climate change and arsenic in drinking water. She resigned in 2003, citing personal reasons. But in a commentary published this week in the journal Nature, she writes that the environment “was not a priority” for the Bush administration.
