In 2009, San Francisco-based businesswoman and Democratic Party donor Eleni Kounalakis was tapped by President Barack Obama to be the ambassador to Hungary. In her new memoir "Madam Ambassador," Kounalakis recalls how she and her family adjusted to life behind embassy walls and how she navigated the dramatic political changes in Hungary, such as a government crackdown on the media and the rise of far-right extremism.
